Suhl is a midsized city in southern Thuringia which had a rapid increase of population in the late 1970s due to the typical east-german "Plattenbau". Thus, the district Suhl-Nord became a so-called satellite town, meaning citizens did not have to leave the district for living, working or shopping. However, since the 1990s the city has recorded by far the largest population decrease (by almost 40 percent) of all counties and cities in Germany. Many of the once inhabited houses are abandoned or have already been torn down and there are hardly any stores for daily needs left in the neighborhood. In May 2022 I started working on a district project with unofficial.pictures e.V.
